Plans to build two new residential units close to a popular Crewe fish and chip shop have been refused - following a dozen objections from local residents.

On Friday (December 2), Cheshire East Council refused plans to build two new residential units on Vincent Street - close to Neptune's Fish & Chips.

This development would have seen two 2-bedroom flats constructed with one in the back yard of 8 Vincent Street.

The development would have seen two 2-bedroom flats constructed with one in the back yard of 8 Vincent Street (Cheshire East Planning).

Externally, there would have been a very small rear yard - less than 30 square metres in size.

Cheshire East received 12 objections to the proposals - with eleven coming from residents of Vincent Street.

One Vincent Street resident who had lived there since 1939 said: "I have lived in this street for 83 years and have noticed the decline in the road surface over years.

"It just get gets patched up so having heavy goods vehicles driving up and down it will not be acceptable.

"There is a lot a families that use Vincent Street as a walking route to the local schools, so again having a building site and it's all it's extras will be dangerous.

"Never mind the noise pollution to families living close by.

"I don't know what will be achieved by this new development apart from upset and misery to long term residents."

Cheshire East say due to the lack of private amenity space and the retention of a large outbuilding to the rear - the development would have been cramped and overdeveloped.

A council planning officer said: "The proposed dwelling would appear cramped due to the constraints of the site.

"Furthermore, there would be insufficient private amenity space for future occupiers of the proposed flats."

Cheshire East say the Vincent Street development would have been cramped and overdeveloped (Google).

Cheshire East said 'Insufficient information' has been submitted relating to the noise from the nearby railway line (Manchester Bridge).

The case officer added: "The proposal would also lead to an unacceptable increase in on-street parking that would lead to unacceptable highway safety risks."
