A VOLUNTEER group in Haslington wants residents to help assemble a scarecrow trail to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

The Haslington Support Group captured the imagination of the village last August when it organised a similar event to raise funds for its dedicated work supporting those in need.

Now as part of the village's Jubilee celebrations they are are calling on people to let their imaginations run wild and exhibit their own scarecrows again in vantage points around the village.

The trail is to run from June 2 to 5 and the group plans to publish a downloadable map on May 31 showing the locations of each individual scarecrow.

The group says scarecrows should have a Royal Theme or mark an event in Haslington and Winterley from the last 70 years.

The Haslington Support Group was set up to help those in need during the pandemic and has continued its work since. Among the good deeds the group's volunteers have offered lifts to medical appointments and run shopping errands.

Anyone interested in adding their own scarecrow to the trail should email [email protected] by May 29.
