NATHAN Southern's second-half strike secured Crewe FC a point in a rain-lashed encounter with Eagle Sports.

Liam O'Reilly's side had to come from behind at the Cumberland Arena after their Warrington-based opponents took a 20th-minute lead through Luke Sutton.

Ollie Hawkins prevented the hosts falling further behind with a vital save in a one-v-one before the interval.

Southern levelled on the hour after some great work by man-of-the-match Matthew Worrall. And the striker went close to winning it with a thundering strike which came off the bar in the dying minutes.

A draw was a fair reflection on the game and Crewe's much-improved second-half showing takes their early tally to four points from the four games they have played so far in the Premier Division.

They are at Knutsford Saturday (October 31).
