A charity shop chain and gym are continuing to weigh up opening inside Crewe town centre's former Argos unit, with nothing fully agreed yet.
British Heart Foundation Furniture & Electrical, Victoria Centre, is considering relocating to the ground floor of Unit A, Market Shopping Centre, along with an unnamed gym potentially moving in upstairs.
The charity retailer seeks to move to a more accessible unit for lifting its furniture, but will only move to a new unit if it is beneficial to them.
The former Argos unit, which closed in 2020, was stripped out ready for the development this summer.
Since then, progress on the development has not moved forward as much as hoped.
In August, real estate company, Jackson Criss, confirmed it is in an "advanced stage" in the legal process for British Heart Foundation to relocate to The Market Shopping Centre.
A Jackson Criss spokesperson told Nub News: "We are at an advanced stage in the legal process for Unit A (former Argos unit), with a national retailer.
"We are currently undertaking a programme of works to enable occupation as we speak and hoping that these complete in the next month or two."
Crewe's Argos store closed at the start of the first COVID-19 lockdown, with its nearest store inside Sainsbury's, Middlewich Road, Nantwich.
