A kind-hearted schoolboy from Crewe is being celebrated, after raising hundreds of pounds for a cancer charity for the second year running.

Wilson Laurie, 11, of Wistaston Church Lane Academy, has once again shown his generosity by selling Christmas pin badges at his school to support Macmillan Cancer Support.

Thanks to his enthusiasm and determination, Wilson raised more than £600 to help people living with cancer and their families.

Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the UK's leading charities, providing vital physical, financial and emotional support to those affected by cancer.

Wilson's fundraising success has placed him among the top five pin badge sellers in the UK, despite competing against pubs and businesses nationwide.

In recognition of Wilson's efforts, area manager for Greene King, Rob Keithley, personally thanked the Wistaston pupil by inviting him to enjoy breakfast at one of the pubs he oversee.

Rob said: "This year, Wilson has raised over £600 to support people living with cancer, which is incredible and puts him in the top five for selling them in the UK. When I say the top five, he's competing with pubs.

"I had the pleasure of a morning with him to say a personal thank you. We had a lovely breakfast served by Bella the robot.

"What a kind, caring and thoughtful young man he's growing into. I know his parents and grandparents are very proud of him. Thank you to everyone locally who bought a pin badge from Wilson in Wistaston."

Wilson's inspiring efforts have not only raised vital funds but have also shown how even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
