A CARE company is looking for people seeking career change to fill more than 50 roles.

Home Instead South Cheshire would like former employees from the hospitality and manufacturing sectors to consider bringing their valuable skills to the care sector.

The firm is hiring for 50 care roles as the pandemic has caused a surge in demand for home care as people look to protect their loved ones.

The company is also recruiting four live-in caregivers, who can move into a client's home to care for them.

Nick Lamming, owner of Home Instead South Cheshire, says: "The home care services we provide are companionship led, so being friendly and chatty are skills which are essential for care.

"We match our clients to caregivers based on shared interests, helping to personalise our care services. People who used to work in customer-facing roles have these key skills and we are keen to chat to them to see if a career in care could be their next step."

Caregiver Elaine Brookfield demonstrates that even those with a non-customer-service background can also find their calling in a care role. She worked as a seamstress at a local textile company for 40 years.

Elaine said: "I started working for Home Instead a month ago and I am really enjoying it. I wish I had made the move years ago.

"I love finding that I have common interests with my clients. A few weeks ago, I noticed a beautiful antique spindle in one of my client's homes. It was something which we chatted about and were interested in and it created a real bond between us.

"I love looking after people and the rewarding feeling I get from making a real difference in a client's life. I love working alongside the other caregivers and there is a real team spirit and feeling of camaraderie."

Home Instead takes a person-centred approach to home care, which benefits both clients and the team.

Clients are supported to live as independently as possible by caregivers that they come to know well. Caregivers' duties are tailored to the needs of individual clients and ranges from companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, post-discharge care, personal care, shopping and errands.
