Arsonists target mattress in alleyway blaze 'next to a pub in Crewe'

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service dealt with a mattress fire next to a Crewe town centre pub - believed to have been started deliberately.

The incident in an alleyway on Prince Albert Street, next to Albert's Corner, happened at 9:32pm on Thursday 18 May.

Following reports of the arson attack, one fire engine from Crewe quickly arrived at the scene.

One fire engine from Crewe quickly arrived at Prince Albert street - putting out the flames using a hose reel jet (Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service).

Firefighters extinguished the mattress flames using a hose reel jet.

Cheshire Police were called to the scene due to the deliberate nature of the fire.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Firefighters attended to a mattress that was on fire in an alleyway next to a pub in Crewe.

"They used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and police were informed due to the fire believed to have being started deliberately."

Cheshire Police were called to the scene due to the deliberate nature of the mattress alleyway fire - next to Albert's Corner (Ryan Parker).

Crewe Nub News has contacted Cheshire Police for comment.
