MAGISTRATES have issued a warrant for the arrest of a Crewe man who failed to appear for a trial on an assault allegation.

Ilia Kaptiev, 31, was due to stand trial at South Cheshire Magistrates' Court yesterday (Tuesday) after previously entering a not guilty plea on June 30 to a charge that he assaulted Elena Dimitrova by beating on May 29 this year.

Kaptiev, of Samuel Street, Crewe also had an arrest warrant issued against him on August 18 when he failed to appear in court over an alleged breach of a suspended sentence order.

He is accused of failing to comply with the community requirements of the order, made by magistrates on March 31 this year, in that he failed to attend unpaid work appointments on July 17 and July 24.
