STAFF at a Crewe hair salon have raised £900 for a local cancer charity support group.

Sophie Wilson and Jess Ordidge, who work at Style Counsel on Edleston Road, scaled Snowdon's 1,085 metre-peak on one of the hottest days of the year, leaving Crewe at 4:30am to make the trip to North Wales.

They donated their fundraising total to Crewe and Nantwich Cancer Research UK Group.

The salon has been regular fundraisers for the group with over £5,000 contributed to the cause over the years.

Style Counsel owner Caron Hull said: "Cancer Research is close to all of our hearts, we have all lost family members to cancer and also some clients.

"One of our own members of staff was diagnosed with a brain tumour last year and sadly had to leave work; she is currently undergoing treatment.

"I think the reason so many of our wonderful clients get involved and are so generous is because this disease does affect so many people, so a big thank you to all that have made donations.

"A big thank you to Sophie and Jess for their amazing achievement on their day off - we're very proud of them."

John Pass of Crewe and Nantwich Cancer Research UK Group, said: "We are extremely grateful for Style Counsel's support. Fundraising has been very difficult this year due to Covid restrictions and every pound raised is vital to help us achieve our goal to beat cancer sooner."
