Armed police and helicopter urgently hunt for 'male with a knife' in Crewe

A Cheshire Police helicopter and armed officers are urgently on the hunt for 'male with a knife' in Crewe - following hours of searching the town.

The incident at Valley Park, Flag Lane, was first reported to Cheshire Police at 1:03pm on Thursday 11 May.

A male, described as being in his teens and approximately 5ft 8 inches tall, was seen carrying a knife.

The teenager was seen wearing a grey jumper and a balaclava.

Cheshire Police have been hunting for the teenager across the town - with support from armed police officers and a helicopter.

Officers say the male does not carry a wider threat to the public.

At 3:54pm, Cheshire Police confirmed the incident to Nub News.

A spokesperson said: "At 1.03pm (May 11), police were called to the Valley Park area of Crewe following reports of a male with a knife.

Cheshire Police have been hunting for the male teenager across Crewe - with support from armed police officers and a helicopter (Ryan Parker).

"Police are currently making a search of the area to locate the male, who is described as in this teens and approximately 5ft 8ins tall.

"He was wearing a grey jumper and a balaclava.

"It's not believed that there is any wider threat to the public.

"If anyone sees someone matching this description, they should not approach him.

"Anyone with information can contact us on 101 or via the website quoting IML 1544732.

"Alternatively, information can be given anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

Armed officers were later seen on Hungerford Road entering a property as part of their search for the male teenager.

Nearby Hungerford Primary Academy, made the decision to take immediate action.

The school alerted parents by text, informing them all pupils had to be collected as a result of the 'ongoing incident.'

At 5:08pm, Cheshire Police provided an update to Nub News.

A spokesperson said: "Following an extensive search of the Valley Park area there have been no further sightings of the man and no reports that anyone has been threatened or injured.

"Enquiries will continue to establish the circumstances of the incident and there will be an increased police presence in the area to provide reassurance."
