Another major bus operator commits to 'hourly service' on crucial Crewe bus route
Another major bus operator has committed to 'an hourly service' covering a crucial Crewe bus route - following D&G's decision to 'step in and cover' for Arriva.
On Monday (March 6), Stagecoach announced it was stepping in to provide hourly buses from Crewe to Chester (via Nantwich).
The change over will take place from Monday 24 April - with buses running from Stagecoach's Chester depot.
There will be an hourly Monday to Saturday service between Crewe and Chester with 'some additional weekly journeys' between Crewe and Nantwich.
Managing director of Stagecoach Merseyside, Cheshire and South Lancashire, Matt Davies, said: "We are delighted to be welcoming this route into our depot at Chester.
"We currently operate 15 routes in the Chester area network going to Liverpool, Ellesmere Port and now out to Nantwich and Crewe.
"We know it can be unsettling when a bus route could be under threat.
"We are pleased to continue the operation of this service Monday to Saturday as an hourly service between Chester and Crewe with some additional weekly journeys between Crewe and Nantwich.
"We will be reviewing a final timetable soon to ensure that we make this a reliable service for customers."
Stagecoach is now recruiting new team members across all our areas – including the Crewe to Chester route – ensuring it can continue to provide local bus services.

From April, customers can find details of the new timetable along with ticketing options on the Stagecoach website.
Arriva will be withdrawing services from the Crewe and wider area on Saturday 22 April.
On March 1, D&G announced it would be stepping in to run additional services in Crewe and across Cheshire from Sunday 23 April.
D&G has registered replacement services to cover the 31 Northwich to Winsford to Crewe, 37 Northwich to Winsford to Sandbach to Crewe and 84 Crewe to Nantwich/Chester.
The bus company is holding a large recruitment event at Winsford Library on Thursday 9 March - for new drivers and engineers.
