Labour MP for Crewe & Nantwich, Connor Naismith, has been appointed Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Department for Transport.

The appointment follows Mr Naismith's sustained campaigning for better transport connectivity and infrastructure investment, both locally and nationally.

Representing a constituency with deep roots in Britain's railway industry, he has been a prominent advocate for improving connections across the North and has consistently made the case for major investment in rail, road and public transport networks.

Most notably, Mr Naismith has been a vocal supporter of delivering HS2 to Crewe and beyond, arguing the full benefits of high-speed rail can only be realised through stronger connections between communities across the North of England.

He has repeatedly pressed for long-term transport investment that supports economic growth, unlocks housing and employment opportunities, and strengthens the region's role in the national economy.

As Parliamentary Private Secretary, Mr Naismith will support the Secretary of State for Transport and the wider ministerial team as they work to deliver the Government's transport agenda.

His appointment will provide him with a closer role in supporting the Department's work while continuing to champion the transport priorities of Crewe & Nantwich and the wider region.

Mr Naismith said: "I'm delighted to have been asked to serve as a Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Transport.

"As the MP for Crewe and Nantwich, I have been a vocal champion on the importance of greater connectivity across our country whether that be by bus, car, train or otherwise.

"I look forward to continuing that work now by supporting the Department for Transport to deliver on the commitments we have made and the agenda of the new Prime Minister.

"Thankfully, this won't change how I do my job as the Member of Parliament for Crewe and Nantwich, a job I love.

"I will still be doing everything I can to get things done for people across Crewe and Nantwich and seeking to use my position and influence to get the best deal from government."

Just underlines how truly useless this government will be - couldn’t find anyone better than Starmer amongst 400 odd MPs voted at last election, now they promote No Hope Naismith. Bring on an election and boot these losers out!!
