A500 closes for almost three hours following car blaze in Crewe

The A500 in Crewe was closed for almost three hours over the weekend, following a serious car fire.

On Saturday 21 September, Cheshire Police received reports of an incident on the A500 in Basford, close to the junction with Jack Mills Way.

One fire engine from Crewe arrived at the scene, using breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames.

Officers attended to assist with lane closures while fire dealt with the incident. The car was left severely damaged.

Thankfully, no one was hurt in the A500 incident, with the car left severely damaged (Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service).

Thankfully, no one was injured, with the scene passed to highways to reopen by 12.52pm.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "At 10.17am on Saturday 21 September, police were called to a car fire on the A500, Basford. 

"Officers attended to assist with lane closures while fire dealt with the incident.

"The scene was passed to highways at 12.52pm."
