Police seize illegal tobacco and shut down cannabis farm on same Crewe street

Cheshire Police officers seized illegal tobacco and vapes from a Crewe shop - following it up by shutting down a cannabis farm on the same street.

The back-to-back warrants on Market Street, Crewe town centre, started at 9:17am on Sunday 14 May - following reports of the sale of illegal tobacco.

Crewe Beat Team started by searching a commercial property - seizing a "large quantity of contraband tobacco and vapes."

Officers were then alerted by a member of there public an adjoining property was operating as a cannabis farm.

This Crewe property was then entered by police under PACE (Police and Criminal Evidence Act) - with officers discovering a large cannabis factory.

Police seized a quantity of plants and other drug paraphernalia, dismantling the farm and contacting the property's electricity company to cut its power.

Both Crewe properties were empty - with no arrests made.

On Monday 15 May, Cheshire Police confirmed the incident to Nub News.

Crewe Beat Team were joined by Trading Standards in conducting a warrant at the Market Street commerical property for illegal tobacco (Crewe Police).

A spokesperson said: "At 9.17am on Sunday 14 May, officers and Trading Standards conducted a warrant at a commercial property in Crewe - following reports of the sale of illegal tobacco.

"While searching the Market Street premises officers seized a large quantity of contraband tobacco and vapes.

"The property was empty at the time, and no arrests were made.

"Following the initial warrant, officers were alerted by a member of the public that the adjoining property had been operating as a cannabis farm.

"Upon entering the property next-door under PACE, police discovered that a cannabis farm had been built inside.

Police seized a quantity of plants and other drug paraphernalia, dismantling the cannabis farm and contacting the property's electricity company to cut its power (Crewe Police).

"Officers seized a quantity of plants and other drug paraphernalia. Again the property was empty at the time of the warrant and no arrests made.

"Officers dismantled the farm and contacted the electricity company to cut power to the property."
