Crewe's Whitby Morrison unveils what is believed to be the world’s longest and highest-spec ice cream van

Whitby Morrison has unveiled what is believed to be the world's longest and highest-specification ice cream van, adding another remarkable chapter to the company's long history of specialist engineering and innovation.
Built for Mark Falconer of Dublin, the bespoke vehicle has been designed to make an impact wherever it goes.
Constructed on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 519 chassis cab and featuring Whitby Morrison's iconic Mondial bodywork, the vehicle is longer than a conventional ice cream van and incorporates one of the most advanced specifications the Crewe-based manufacturer has ever delivered.
While its size immediately commands attention, the vehicle has been designed with a serious commercial purpose in mind.
Created for major festivals, sporting events and other high-footfall locations, it has the capacity to serve in excess of 15,000 ice creams using emission-free onboard power on a single charge.
This makes the vehicle particularly well suited to busy public events, city-centre locations and venues where reducing noise and environmental impact is increasingly important.
The van's extensive specification includes:
- Two Carpigiani Aria soft ice cream machines
- Two Carpigiani Aria Smart slush machines
- Dual serving areas
- Four individual points of sale
- Premium interior finishes
- Whitby Morrison's latest onboard engineering technology
The dual serving areas and four points of sale allow multiple members of staff to serve customers simultaneously, helping the operator manage large crowds, reduce waiting times and maximise sales during the busiest trading periods.
Every element of the workspace has been carefully considered to support efficient operation while delivering the premium quality, durability and reliability for which Whitby Morrison is known around the world.

The vehicle was commissioned by Mark Falconer, whose vision was to create the ultimate event ice cream van: one capable of handling exceptionally large crowds while providing customers with a memorable experience.
As well as its unprecedented length and premium specification, the van combines multiple serving stations, high-capacity equipment and a carefully planned operator workspace to maximise productivity throughout busy trading periods.
Every element of the vehicle has been designed around the demands of large-scale event trading. Its advanced specification supports fast, efficient service across multiple points of sale, helping operators maintain consistently high levels of performance during even the busiest periods.
The project also demonstrates Whitby Morrison's ability to design and manufacture completely bespoke vehicles around the individual requirements of its customers.
For more than sixty years, the Crewe-based manufacturer has combined traditional craftsmanship with continually evolving engineering technology, creating specialist vehicles that help operators serve more customers, work more efficiently and stand out from the crowd.
