Crewe man charged after woman, 57, dies in car crash near Middlewich

A MAN has been charged with serious motoring offences after the death of a Crewe woman following a collision.

The 57-year-old woman from Crewe was a passenger in a red Ford Focus travelling on Warmingham Lane near Middlewich last Friday morning (October 8).

Officers investigating the fatal collision have charged Liam Foster, 45, of Smallbrook Walk, Crewe with causing death by dangerous driving; causing death while disqualified from driving; causing death while uninsured and failing to stop after a collision.

Foster, who was arrested on Monday, appeared at Chester Magistrates' Court today (Wednesday), where he was remanded in custody. He is next set to appear at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday, November 10.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "The charges relate to a one-vehicle collision involving a red Ford Focus which was reported to police at 11.51am on Friday, October 8.

"Sadly, a passenger from the vehicle, a 57-year-old woman from Crewe, died at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers."
