AO is seeking a dedicated and experienced Class 1 Driver to support our nationwide operations. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of goods to one of our 17 depots across the UK, ensuring all items arrive in pristine condition.

  • Pay: £18.00 per hour
  • Job Type: Permanent Contract
  • Shift Pattern: 10 hour night shifts working Sunday to Thursday

A Few Things About Our Ideal HGV Class 1 Driver:

  • Current and Valid CPC and DIGI TACHO
  • No more than 6 penalty points (no IN, DR Or DD Codes)
  • Excellent level of English
  • Good knowledge of the UK road network
  • Good timekeeping

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our business for an experienced Maintenance Technician (Mech/Elec) to be based at our Crewe Maintenance Facility.Reporting to the Shift Team Leader / Production Manager, the successful applicant will join the Maintenance and Repairs Team at our Depot in Crewe and will assist with the day-to-day maintenance and repair of our busy Freight Locomotive Fleet.Working as part of a busy team, you will operate on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern in undertaking planned maintenance and repair of our locomotives coming in for major repairs, maintenance and overhaulWorking days and nights (2 days, 2 nights, 4 off) start and finish times are 7 till 7 averaging a 39-hour week over the course of the yearImmediate and/or flexible starts for interested partiesStarting salary:Over £47k pa plus overtime at enhanced rates, easily advancing £52k paOpportunities to earn up to £1500.00 per unit for accomplishing up to 9 technical modulesExcellent Benefits PackageKey Responsibilities include:Ensure that company engineering standards and procedures are applied and followed, under the post holder's area of control to ensure that the traction and rolling stock meet the provisions of statutory Railway Group Standards and Codes of Practice.The post holder has a general duty to ensure that there is no harm to employees. Contractors, customers or the public.Principal AccountabilitiesAdhere to health and safety and local safety policy requirements, and other safety and technical standards. Comply with all instructions, rules and regulations in force.Maintain, service, fault find and repair locomotives in accordance with the approved maintenance plans as required by the local manager.Ensure all relevant paperwork for examinations and repairs is correctly completed on time and to required company standards.Ensure that materials issued to locomotives and wagons are recorded and reported accurately.Take due care and attention to all tools and instrumentation used.Participate in all relevant training and competency assessment that the post holder is nominated for.Repair and commission all plant and equipment as required from time to time.Assist in the upkeep of maintenance vehicle history files either electronically or hard copies.Assist Team Leaders (under their direction) as required during maintenance and repair of Locomotives.Attend safety/quality and technical briefings as required.Be prepared to work in the areas of necessity to alleviate pressure, under the guidance of suitably qualified staff.Undertake general duties relative to cleanliness of workshop areas, mess room, toilets etc. as required.Assist as required by your immediate line manager.Experience & Knowledge Requirements:At least 2 years broadly based experience of motor vehicle/HGV/Agricultural and Military vehicles plus/or ideally, Traction & Rolling Stock, including maintenance, repair and fault finding.We welcome candidates looking for a career change coming from the Motor Vehicle Industry, particularly Dealerships that teach Automotive Electrical Fault Finding and DiagnosisThe ability to make sound engineering decisions.Basic communication skills, written & oral.Qualifications and TrainingA minimum of NVQ Level 3/or equivalent in an engineering or technical disciplineSuccessful candidates will be required to undertake a Safety Critical Rail related Medical and Drug & Alcohol check plus a basic Security clearance check.
