A bus blaze on a busy route in Crewe was tackled by Cheshire fire crews, believed to have been caused by an "electrical fault."

On Monday 11 December, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service received reports of an incident on Wheatley Road, off Sydney Road.

A single decker number eight D&G bus had burst into flames on the Sydney to Wistaston Green Route.

At 2:40pm, one fire engine from Middlewich and one from Winsford arrived at the scene.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service determined the number eight D&G bus fire was caused by an 'electrical fault' (Google).

The blaze had been put out before firefighters arrived. Crews used a thermal imaging camera to check there were no further hotspots.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "An electrical fault is believed to have been the cause of a fire involving a single decker bus.

"The fire was out on arrival and the crews used a thermal imaging camera to check there were no further hotspots."
