THE Crewe Regional Sunday Football League has kicked off with four new teams making their bow.

Premier outfit Sydney Arms have changed their name to Cheshire Cheese and they opened the new campaign on Sunday with a 2-1 win at NHB thanks to goals from Charlie Maines and Tim Beresford.

Three of the newcomers are starting off in Division One and two of them squared up at Barony Park where Cooper Buckley started impressively with an 8-1 win over Ruskin Park.

Ben Burrow hit a hat-trick and Ashley Edwards (2), Taylor Vickers, Jack Gater and Ross Martin were also on the scoresheet.

Leighton FC went down to a 3-2 defeat against White Horse on their league debut.

White Horse led 3-0 at the break thanks to a hat-trick from Tom Royle, which included two penalties.

But Dan Frost and Jake Foster hit back for Leighton in the second half when the hosts were down to 10 men after Royle was sent off.

Elsewhere, Winnington SC came from behind to draw 3-3 at Willaston White Star in the Premier.

Lukas Synowicz (2), and Danny Williams scored for Star, with Joel Hind (2) and Jordan Sherlock scoring for the visitors, who also missed a penalty kick.

Danny Lavalette converted a late penalty as Betley beat Broadhurst FC 1-0. Newly-promoted Talbot went down 4-2 at Crewe Athletic for whom Luke Gillan scored a hat trick, with Jordan Amson also on target. Ryan Moss and Liam Whittaker scored for Talbot.

In Division One, Audlem beat Nantwich Pirates 3-0 with goals from James Craig (2) and Callum Mese.

While Princes Feathers and Sandbach Town played out a 1-1 draw, with Ethan Stockall netting for the home side and Tom Cotton scoring for Sandbach Town.

CREWE FC's home clash with AFC Knowsley in the Cheshire League Premier was cancelled because of Covid-19 isolations as was the club's reserves' outing at Greenalls Padgate St Oswalds.
