Grassroots football: Crewe FC moving up as Betley extend lead at top of Regional
KIERAN Duckers hit a hat-trick as Betley extended their lead at the top of the CREWE REGIONAL SUNDAY LEAGUE'S Premier Division to five points.
Mitch Weedall and a Danny Lavalette (pen) also scored in a 5-0 win over Cheshire Cheese.
After the rain-lashed weekend five games of the league programme were called off.
The local Northwich derby between Winnington SC and Broadhurst FC survived the weather and started well for Broadhurst with a goal from Steve Jenyons providing the visitors with an interval lead.
But Winnington SC enjoyed a strong second half and goals from Craig Humphries, Chris Lawrence and Joe Clarkson secured a 3-1 win.
The a top-of-the-table clash in Division One Audlem edged Sandbach Town by a 2-1 margin. Paul Bowker gave Audlem the lead before Jay Street equalised for Sandbach.
But Nick Gregory netted a late winner for Audlem, who are a point clear of Winsford Over 3 who moved second after a 3-0 win over local rivals Princes Feathers with goals from Thomas Stanton, Lewis Young and Jake Wright.
JS Bailey won 4-1 at Ruskin Park to move off the bottom of the League with goals from Liam Millington (2), Ramirez Machado and Greg Bailey. Ben Clark scored for Ruskin Park.
Sandbach Curshaws stayed top of the CREWE AND DISTRICT LEAGUE after a 3-1 win at previously undefeated Crewe Town.
Darren Bailey, Sam Critchley and Lee Mellor scored for Curshaws who are now two points clear of second-placed Sandbach Town Ramblers who beat Crewe Wanderers 2-1 with goals from Tim Lamb and Andy Holloway.
Sandbach Town won 2-1 at AFC Bollington with Tom Edwards and Billy O'Neil-Nash on the scoresheet.
And the two sides representing Mary Dendy squared up with Mary Dendy claiming the bragging rights over Mary Dendy 1982 with a 3-1 win. Michael Gilligan, Jack Cooper and Rick Passoni scored the hosts with Tom Wakefield replying for Mary Dendy 1982.
Crewe FC picked up their second consecutive win in the CHESHIRE LEAGUE to move up to 14th in the Premier Division table.
Cobi Bateman, Ryan Moss and Shannon Sinnott were on the scoresheet for the Cumberland Arena side in a 3-2 win at Daten, the club's third win of the season. Solomon Okolo, 17, picked up the man-of-the-match award.
Crewe FC's reserves went down to a 5-2 defeat at home against lowly Avon Villa Reserves.
