Grassroots football: all the action from the Crewe Saturday and Sunday leagues

THE Lions and Betley continued their battle for supremacy at the top of the CREWE REGIONAL SUNDAY LEAGUE'S Premier Division.

Leaders The Lions beat Cheshire Cheese 3-1 with two goals from Danny Roberts and one from Jordan Prince.

While second-placed Betley overcame a spirited Talbot side 3-2 with the winning goal coming after 80 mins. Ryan Moss and Joe Goodall scored for Talbot with Gareth Ratcliffe, Danny Lavalette and Jamie Baker on the mark for Betley.

Raven Salvador and NHB FC shared the honours in a 2-2 draw. Debutant Aaron Rowlands scored one and set up the other goal for Raven Salvador through Josh Wynne.

Lewis Clarke and Harry Mayers replied for NHB FC.

Broadhurst FC exacted revenge for an early season defeat by local rivals Winnington SC with a 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Danny Martin and Kallum McDonough. Aaron Gee scored for Winnington SC.

Cooper Buckley jumped from third to top of Division One following defeats for both Winsford Over 3 and Audlem.

They helped their cause by hammering White Horse 6-0 helped by four goals from Luke Gillan. Josh Rowley and Ashley Edwards were also on the mark.

Leighton beat Audlem 2-1 with Grant Coiley and Scott Peberdy on the scoresheet. Tom Capewell replied for Audlem.

Winsford Over 3 lost (4-6) at Sandbach Town for whom Jack Townsend hit a hat-trick with Liam Kettle (2) and Matt Dalton completing the scoring.

In the Division One Cup Ruskin Park beat Nantwich Pirates 3-2 thanks to goals from Reece Jewkes, Dean Rockwell and Dan Dutton.

In the CREWE AND DISTRICT LEAGUE Sandbach Curshaws that put themselves in the driving seat in the title race with an emphatic 4-1 win over Crewe Town.

Ryan Simmons netted a brace and Fraser Keena and Alex Lockett were also on the sheet.

The result leaves Curshaws sitting pretty at the top of the table with a six-point gap to FC Bollington, who are now the only team on paper able to catch them.

In the other game played in the league on Saturday, Mary Dendy and AFC Crewe shared the honours from a 2-2 draw.
