CREWE Alexandra Women took the honours in a pre-season derby game.

The Alex ladies ran out 6-0 winners against their Potteries rivals last Sunday at the Alexandra Soccer centre in Shavington.

The friendly was played in heavy showers, but the all-weather pitch and players coped well with the conditions.

Crewe's dominance was evident as early as the fifth minute when Beth Grice opened the scoring for the Alex and she added her second just before half-time.

The influential Laura Garner also scored a brace for the Alex and Emilia Edwards scored on her debut.

Seventeen-year-old Abbie Wright scored the pick of the goals in the 77th minute with a superb 30-yard lob.

Crewe may have won by more if it hadn't been for some excellent goal keeping from the Vale stopper.
