CHRIS Porter's enduring value to Crewe Alex is evident in the decision to offer the 37-year-old striker a new contract.

The frontman can extend his stay at Gresty Road into a fifth campaign after boss Dave Artell's big end-of-season decisions were revealed in the club's retained list issued today.

Defenders Olly Lancashire and Eddie Nolan, who has been on loan in the Scottish Premier League since January, along with winger Daniel Powell are being released.

While as well as Porter, contract offers have been made to Ryan Wintle, Callum Ainley, Omar Beckles, Regan Griffiths, Josh Lundstram and to back-up keeper Sam Booth (although on non-contract terms).

While Wintle and Beckles appear to be looking for fresh pastures as summer free agents, Artell is hopeful Ainley will stay.

The transfer departures of Perry Ng [in January] and Harry Pickering mean the full-back berths will need bolstering and Travis Johnson has had a contract extension triggered, along with centre-half Billy Sass-Davies.

Meanwhile, three first-year professionals at the club have penned new deals: striker Tyreece Onyeka, full-back Nathan Woodthorpe and midfielder Joe Robbins.
