CREWE have called off Saturday's home fixture with Portsmouth after a pitch inspection this morning (Friday).

A local referee made an early decision after he deemed the playing surface at Gresty Road frozen hard and unplayable in areas.

With the cold snap set to continue there was little prospect of a thaw by kick off time tomorrow. The Met Office has predicted temperatures will fall to as low as -3C overnight in South Cheshire.

Currently, Crewe's next fixture is on Saturday, February 20 when they visit Swindon. Accrington Stanley are the next visitors on Tuesday, February 23.
