CREWE have unveiled their fifth signing of the summer as versatile defender Callum McFadzean checked into the Mornflake Stadium today (Friday).

The 27-year-old former Bury and Plymouth man - who finished off last season at Sunderland after moving on from Plymouth in October 2020 - has signed a one-year contract with the Alex.

After the departure of Harry Pickering to Blackburn Crewe's left side is in need of the experience McFadzean can offer.

During his career he has operated primarily at left-back, but he can also play in the centre of defence.

Starting off at hometown club Sheffield United, McFadzean was part of the Bury side promoted to League One under former Alex striker Ryan Lowe's management. When the Shakers collapsed into financial turmoil in 2019 he followed Lowe to Plymouth.

His versatility has seen him play left-back, left wing back and centre-half.
