MP Kieran Mullan: 'excited' by ambitious plans.

PLANS to regenerate Crewe have received a "warm" response from the government - although an announcement on what projects will receive funding from the Town Deal will have to wait until after the May 6 local elections.

Cheshire East Council submitted Crewe's Town Investment Plan in January detailing which projects would be seeking a share of up to £25m of government funding.

Cheshire's new chief constable, Mark Roberts, took charge this week.

CHESHIRE's new Chief Constable Mark Roberts has pledged to make life tough on criminals in the county after taking the reins of the top police post this week.

Mr Roberts, who has replaced the outgoing Darren Martland, who retired last Friday, previously held the post of deputy chief constable at South Yorkshire Police, and has previously served the Cheshire force as assistant chief constable.
