Connor Naismith is the new borough councillor for Crewe West.

LABOUR have held the Crewe West seat on Cheshire East Council as Connor Naismith was elected with 42 per cent of the vote.

The declaration, made today (Sunday) for a seat vacant since the death of Labour stalwart Brian Roberts in February 2020, saw Mr Naismith polling 185 more votes (724) than his nearest challenger, Conservative candidate Teja Vaddala (539).

IT'S all change at Cheshire East Council with a new committee system in place and the appointment of a new borough mayor and deputy, both with links to the Crewe area.

Bunbury councillor Sarah Pochin was elected Mayor of Cheshire East at a virtual ceremony on Tuesday, while Shavington councillor David Marren was chosen to be her deputy. Both Cllr Pochin and Cllr Marren are independent members of the authority.
