Crewe Central councillor Anthony Critchley asked about vaccine uptake among school pupils.

ONLY one school in Cheshire East had to close during the autumn term because of Covid-19 - and that was only for the last day, it has been revealed.

Mark Bayley, acting director of education, says the autumn term last year was probably the hardest and most challenging for schools during the whole pandemic and thanked staff for the 'Herculean efforts to keep schools open'.

Oak Street car park is the preferred location of a Crewe Youth Zone.

'RAIDING' the early help for families budget to plough funds into a proposed Crewe Youth Zone could have a detrimental impact on children across Cheshire East.

That was the view of two Conservative councillors who told Cheshire East Council's children and families committee they were not opposed to the youth zone, but they were concerned about where the funding was coming from and the perceived inequality for young people across the borough.

Chester Crown Court is hearing the case for the defence of a 17-year-old Crewe youth charged with murder.

A CREWE teenager accused of murder insisted he was "just trying to scare" a gang of older men who threatened his friends with "kneecapping" on a Winsford estate.

The 17-year-old, who denies murdering Keagan Crimes, told a jury at Chester Crown Court that he was "confused and knew what they [the men] were capable of" after he was in a friend's flat targeted by them.

Chester Crown Court has heard prosecution evidence in the murder trial of a Crewe teenager.

A CREWE teenager accused of murder was swinging a machete-type knife outside a shopping precinct "going for anyone in front of him", a court was told.

An eye witness to the altercation, in which Keagan Crimes lost his life in Winsford in October last year, said the youth didn't seem to care that he was confronted with a large group of older men pursuing him.
