A WOMAN cyclist from Crewe who was killed in what was described as a 'hit-and-run' collision has been named by police.
Agnieszka Pocztowska sadly passed away after sustaining serious injuries when her bike was in collision with what was reported to be a silver saloon car which fled the scene at Hungerford Road on Monday morning.
Ms Pocztowska, 41, was taken to Leighton Hospital by ambulance.
A GoFundMe page set up by a family friend has already raised over £6,000 to help pay for funeral costs and, possibly, help with the cost of flights for Mrs Pocztowska's relatives from Poland.
On the page, mother-of-three Mrs Pocztowska - who worked as a carer for Crewe-based Premier Care - was described as "a beautiful, caring and compassionate person who loved her job and her family".
Her friends say her loss has "left a huge hole in the community and will effect many people".
Her employer posted on social media "The management team at Premier Care Crewe are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of our dear former colleague Agnieszka Pocz. RIP sweetheart".
Cheshire Police's investigation is continuing and today officers visited homes around Crewe Green, Haslington and Winterley appealing for relevant CCTV footage.
They are also looking for witnesses and dashcam footage.
The vehicle involved in the collision sustained serious damage to the front bumper area.
Anyone with information or footage should call Cheshire Police on 101, quoting IML 804595, or give the details here.
- A 20-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent and an 18-year-old woman, also from Stoke-on-Trent, arrested in connection with the incident were released on police bail.
