AS more and more events are being organised locally Nub News is launching a new weekly round up of what's on in Crewe each weekend.

Every Thursday we will now bring you our top picks of the events in our What's On section for the coming weekend.

And don't forget, if your business or organisation is running an event, you can advertise it for free with Crewe Nub News.

Simply follow this link to our What's On section and click the black 'Nub It' button to get started.

Here are our top events for the weekend ahead:

1. John Lydon at the Lyceum Theatre.

The Public Image Ltd frontman and former Sex Pistol takes his spoken word tour to Crewe on Sunday (October 10). The 65-year-old punk rocker is known for his outspoken views on music, politics and life and in general.

He isn't likely to be sitting on the fence when taking audience questions and he could be picking out some of his old targets, and maybe new ones after a recent lawsuit went against him as he attempted to block the licensing of the Sex Pistols' music in a forthcoming Danny Boyle series on the band.

Read about the show on our What's On section.

2. Oktoberfest at the White Lion at Weston

There's plenty of fine continental beers on tap at the Weston hostelry's two-dayer, which starts tomorrow (Friday) night.

There is also live music, including an appearance from the Audley Brass Band on both days.

See here.

3.Crewe Real Ale Festival.

There's another fantastic event for lovers of a pint at Crewe Heritage Centre over the weekend.

The South Cheshire branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) have a three-day (October 8-10) treat lined up with 50 plus cask ales, real ciders and perrys on offer.

Check it out here.
