West Street’s last pub finally reopens to public in Crewe
By Ryan Parker 25th Mar 2026
West Street's last remaining pub, shut since December, has reopened under new management.
The Wolverton Arms, known locally as 'The Monkey,' has been brought back to life by Levi Crillian.
Earlier reopening plans in February fell through, but this time, Mr Crillian says the venue is ready.
Open seven days a week, The Monkey screens all the main Sky Sports action and has a darts board for friendly competition
It also boasts a rear beer garden, open for the warmer months ahead.

The Monkey is the last remaining pub on West Street, following the closures of The Brunel Arms and The Prince of Wales in 2015.
A social media statement from The Monkey read: "We're excited to welcome you to The Monkey, freshly taken over and ready to bring a new vibe to your local.
"Whether you're popping in for a pint, watching the match, or just looking for a great atmosphere, The Monkey is the place to be.
"Bring your mates, spread the word and come see what's new."
The Monkey is open 12pm to 9pm (Monday to Thursday) and 12pm to 12am (Friday to Sunday).
