Two men have been arrested for attempted burglary in Crewe, after a homeowner heard someone trying to break in through their door.

Police located two males matching the description walking on Walthall Street.

Both males, aged 33 and 26, were arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary, after balaclavas and tools were found.

One of the males was also a suspect in a drugs offence in Northamptonshire.

Their car was later located and seized which contained further items of interest for officers.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "In the early hours of Monday 11 December, a report was received of a homeowner hearing someone trying to break in through their door.

"There was damage to the door and locks were damaged.

"Local authority CCTV identified two males walking away up Nantwich Road as response patrols were deployed.
