Two men arrested following attempted burglary incident in Crewe
Two men have been arrested for attempted burglary in Crewe, after a homeowner heard someone trying to break in through their door.
On Monday 11 December, Cheshire Police received reports of an incident on Nantwich Road, causing damage to the door and locks of a property,
Local authority CCTV identified two males walking away up Nantwich Road, with officers deployed to the scene.
Police located two males matching the description walking on Walthall Street.
Both males, aged 33 and 26, were arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary, after balaclavas and tools were found.
One of the males was also a suspect in a drugs offence in Northamptonshire.
Their car was later located and seized which contained further items of interest for officers.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "In the early hours of Monday 11 December, a report was received of a homeowner hearing someone trying to break in through their door.
"There was damage to the door and locks were damaged.
"Local authority CCTV identified two males walking away up Nantwich Road as response patrols were deployed.
Response patrols located two males matching the description walking on Walthall Street.
"They were detained and searched and balaclavas and tools were found.
"Both males, aged 33 and 26, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary.
"One of the males was also a suspect in a drugs offence in Northamptonshire.
"Their car was later located and seized which contained further items of interest as the investigation is continuing."
