Transfer Deadline Day Live: Crewe Alexandra sign defender, winger and development midfielder

Crewe Alexandra have completed their 2025 summer transfer business on deadline day this evening (September 1), signing a right back, development midfielder and winger.
Just past 10pm, The Railwaymen completed a late deal for right winger, Dion Rankine, after being released by League One side Wigan Athletic that evening.
Rankine, who started out at Chelsea and was strongly linked with Crewe earlier in July, has joined up with Lee Bell's squad on a two-year deal, including an option for a further 12 months.

The 22-year-old made 26 appearances in all competitions for The Latics in 2024-25 and has become Crewe's 11th and final signing of the summer.
This deal comes after Crewe signed Stockport right-back/defensive midfielder, Jay Mingi on a season-long loan at 6pm, who will wear the number 4 shirt.
The former West Ham youth player was signed by The Hatters after flourishing in League Two for Colchester United in 2023/24 and made 11 League One appearance last season.

At 9.30pm, Crewe also completed the development loan signing of Harvey Griffiths from Wolves, who went out on loan to Walsall in 2023/24.
A Manchester City youth, the 21-year-old looks to progress his career in South Cheshire, adding depth to Crewe's midfield department.
