Three arrests after 'knife attack' and 'balaclava gang' roam Crewe estate

By Gwyn Griffiths 27th Aug 2021

THREE teenagers have been arrested in connection with knife offences in Crewe.

One of the trio, a 16-year-old boy, was arrested in connection with a knife attack following a police investigation into a separate report of disorder yesterday afternoon (Wednesday), where a gang of around 12 youths clad in balaclavas were said to "running around" the Brookhouse estate.

Two teenagers, aged 17 and 14, were arrested following that incident on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon.

Cheshire Police say the 17-year-old boy has been charged with possession of a knife and is due to appear at Chester Magistrates' Court today (3 June).

The 14-year-old has been released on condition bail pending further enquiries.

The alleged knife attack was reported later at around 6.30pm on park land near Dutton Way and Mount Pleasant, off Ford Lane.

A 19-year-old man was said to have been assaulted with a knife. His injuries are not thought to be serious.

As part of their enquiries into the Brookhouse incident, officers arrested a 16-year-old boy from Crewe on suspicion of wounding with intent.

Inspector Andy Smith said: "Police were on the scene very quickly and a number of arrests were made. Understandably residents will be concerned and officers will be in the area continuing their enquiries, to provide reassurance and answer any questions residents may have."
