Hundreds flock to Taco Bell as it officially opens first ever Crewe outlet
Taco Bell has officially opened its first ever drive-thru restaurant in Crewe, eight months after receiving planning permission for the former Pizza Hut site.
The Tex-Mex chain launched on Phoenix Leisure Park, Dunwoody Way, at 12pm, handing out free tacos to its first main queue of customers.
Hundreds of orders were made within the first hour, with queues going out of the door.
Taco Bell has titled its new site, "Crewe West," leaving local residents curious it could open another eatery in the town.
The eatery is now open for click and collect, takeaway, dine-in and drive-thru orders.
Taco Bell has confirmed delivery via Uber Eats and Just East is "coming soon."
A social media statement read: "Crewe come feast with us. Be sure to arrive early as we will be giving away free tacos to customers in the queue.
"Officially open from midday today [January 19].
"Click and collect and takeaway. Dine-in and drive-thru. Delivery via Uber Eats and Just Eat coming soon.
"Find us on Phoenix Leisure Park, Dunwoody Way, Crewe, CW1 3AJ."
Founded in 1962, Taco Bell serves a variety of Mexican-inspired food, including tacos, burritos, quesadillas and nachos.
After receiving planning approval in May, work had been taking place at the site since the end of August
A drive-thru has been constructed along the Dunwoody Way side of the restaurant.
Taco Bell Crewe West is open 12pm until 11pm, seven days per week.
