Standstill on M6 following morning collision near Crewe

Around 11am on Saturday 5 April, emergency services received reports of a collision on the M6 between Junction 16 and Junction 17 (Nub News).

Traffic was at standstill on the M6 northbound between Junction 16 (Crewe) and Junction 17 (Sandbach/Congleton), following a collision.

Around 11am on Saturday 5 April, emergency services received reports of a collision on the motorway.

Motorists wanting to enter the M6 from Junction 16 at Barthomley faced long delays. All lanes reopened around 12.25pm.

The collision saw queues grow on the A500, with traffic bumper-to bumper on both the dual carriageway and motorway for over an hour.

Traffic is stopped on the M6 in Cheshire northbound between J16 Crewe and J17 Sandbach due to a collision (Wiki Commons).

National Highways: North-West said: "Traffic is stopped on the M6 in Cheshire northbound between J16 Crewe and J17 Sandbach due to a collision.

"Emergency services are in attendance.

"Long delays building, please allow extra time for your journey."

Nub News has contacted Cheshire Police for comment.
