What started as a small family-run motor group in Crewe in 2003 has grown into a multi-brand automotive dealer with over 30 dealerships and locations across the North West, Midlands and North Wales.

And this September, Swansway Motor Group is celebrating 23 years in business.

Founded by Chairman, Michael Smyth, Swansway has continued to grow while remaining family owned, with Michael now leading the business alongside his three sons, David, Peter and John.

Five of Swansway's current dealerships, Crewe Audi, Crewe SEAT, Crewe Volkswagen, Stafford Audi and Stoke Audi, are also celebrating their own 23rd anniversaries this September, having been part of Swansway since the Group was founded.

Over the past 23 years, these dealerships have continued to serve their local communities while seeing significant changes across the automotive industry, from the rise of online car buying to the growing popularity of hybrid and electric vehicles.

Today, Swansway represents 10 automotive brands across more than 30 rooftops, alongside its own used car brand, Motor Match.

The Group also operates an accident repair centre and five TPS (Trades Parts Specialists) Centres, supporting its retail and trade customers across the regions in which it operates.

Since 2003, the family owned business has grown considerably, now employing 1,200 people and generating £1.1 billion in turnover in 2025.

To mark the 23rd anniversary, colleagues across Swansway's dealerships and locations have been celebrating together, with birthday cakes delivered to teams across the group.
