A nature-enthused Crewe childcare provider has expanded with the launch of an "amazing" new pre-school development, completed this spring.

Thrive Weston Village, Main Road, Weston, part of Thrive Childcare and Education, providing childcare from the ages of zero to five, launched its new pre-school building on Saturday 14 March.

Officially opened by Mayor of Crewe, Cllr Sally Graham, alongside eager parents and staff connected to Thrive Weston Village, the new 109 sq m facility creates another 36 pre-school places.

Employing 32 members of staff, many of whom living in South Cheshire, Thrive Weston Village, recently changing its name from Crewe Nature Kindergarten, currently has over 100 children enrolled.

Nursery Manager, Emma Mainwaring, told Nub News: "We got to a point of an occupancy level at Thrive Weston Village where our nursery was full and we had so many reasons to expand.

"The experiences and opportunities we provide here, along with our high-quality childcare provision, community links and the stability of our team and leadership, make our nursery so successful and desirable.

"From all that positivity, we went forward with our vision that there was scope to expand here, especially when putting all the residential development taking place around this area of Crewe into consideration.

"We had so much space to use without encroaching on our daily mile and nature club, allowing us to invest and create another 36 places, which is wonderful. It also allows our pre-school children to be so close to our field.

"All our pre-school children come out and do three laps of this field, come rain or shine, as part of our daily mile.

"Toddlers, our two-to-three-year-olds, also come out and do two laps of the field, with our youngest children doing one lap. It is quite magical.

"By the time children are leaving us ready to go to into Reception, they will have done this for three years, those foundations of a healthy lifestyle already in place.

"Older boys are especially becoming quite athletic, hence our focus to extend this further with our families.

"Our nature club teaches children about the importance of our outdoors and how to care for things, setting them up to grow up caring and valuing nature, as well as understanding about sustainability and healthy lifestyles.

"Overall I feel we are providing something very special at Thrive Weston Village through our nursery values, enabling children the foundations they need to have a healthy mindset in life as they enter their next chapter."

To improve community links, Thrive Weston Village has also started taking part in the Queens Park Sunday Junior Park Run, with their next one taking place in June.

Thrive Weston Village uses high visibility vests to keep children safe when out on trips away from the nursery.

All children leave wellington boots and waterproof clothing at nursery so they can be appropriately dressed for all seasons.

Emma, of Audley, said: "We have started taking part in the Queens Park Sunday Junior Park Run, with their next one taking place in June. It is a great way to improve our community links and get parents involved.

"With our super name change to Thrive Weston Village, we believe it has put us more at the heart of the community.

"The parent's feedback on this has also been really positive, thinking the name is now in line with the values we stand for.

"The name also puts Weston on the map and makes more sense with us being on the outskirts of Crewe. It is exciting times for Thrive Weston Village and we are so happy about the new development."

Thrive Weston Village's new pre-school building was completed by company-wide subtractors, RCB Construction.

Director, Nathan Burge, told Nub News: "We have been subcontractors with Thrive for just over 12 months, overseeing projects across 46 UK nurseries.

"Building this new extension in Weston through the winter months was challenging, but to see the children's faces when they first walked through the door was amazing.

"Everything went to plan. We started work on December 18 with the project completed eight to 10 weeks later.

"It's lovely to see children out in a rural setting, the countryside views are stunning. It is also really peaceful and quiet.

"What Thrive Weston Village has invested in their nursery ready for them to go into school years is a good step forward.

"Seeing the amazing facility that has been created you see it was well worth the battle and the grind. We feel quite proud of it."

With its own car park for drop-offs and pick-ups, Thirve Weston Village works in partnership with Cheshire East Council to provide funding to eligible families.

Thrive Weston Village is open 7.30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, 51 weeks a year, for morning, afternoon and full-day sessions.
