YMCA Cheshire raised nearly £3,000 at its first Charity Golf Day after more than 50 golfers and 13 businesses came together at Alsager Golf & Country Club.

The event was supported by The Zero Group and Gold Sponsor A500 Tech Solutions, with funds going towards YMCA Cheshire's housing, youth, family and community services across the county.

Heavy rain at the start of the day failed to stop play, with conditions improving as teams completed the 18-hole competition before a fundraising auction, raffle and dinner.

CEO of A500 Tech Solutions, Simon Robeson, said: "A500 are here to help support YMCA Cheshire and the incredible work they do across our communities, helping people and making sure everyone gets a fair opportunity in life.

"The day was brilliant. Despite a damp start, the teams have really enjoyed themselves, and it's been fantastic to see so many businesses come together for such an important cause."

Other businesses supporting the event included PA Today Ltd, GLO Café, Crewe Lyceum Theatre, NB Executive Solutions Limited, NetworkIN Cheshire, Clarity Occupational Health, Butcher & Barlow, Travel Counsellors, Onneley Golf Club and Westwood Golf Club.

YMCA Cheshire Chief Executive Mark Hills said: "This event perfectly demonstrates what can happen when local businesses and charities come together with a shared purpose.
