A former Crewe Engineering & Design UTC student has been named a finalist for the BAFTA Young Presenter Award 2026.

Michalina Palenik, who grew up in Crewe, has reached the national final, prompting congratulations from her former college on West Street.

The UTC said Michalina had gone from studying in its engineering workshops to appearing on a national stage.

In a post celebrating her achievement, the college said: "Huge congratulations to our incredible UTC alumni, Michalina Palenik, who has been nominated as a BAFTA Young Presenter Finalist for 2026.

"From engineering workshops to the national spotlight, her journey shows exactly what happens when talent, confidence and creativity come together.

"We're so proud to see a former Crewe Engineering & Design UTC student representing our community on such a prestigious stage."

Michalina also thanked the teachers at CUTC for their support during her time at the college, particularly highlighting Miss Tomkinson and Mr Wood.

The UTC added: "The future is bright, and this achievement is only the beginning.
