'Spooktacular' half term finale to close Crewe attraction's 2026 season
By Ryan Parker 21st Oct 2026
Families are invited to enjoy a frightfully fun end to the season at Crewe Heritage Centre as the museum unveils a packed programme of Halloween themed activities during the October half term starting on Saturday 24 October.
With only a handful of opening days remaining before the centre closes for the winter, visitors will find plenty of reasons to make one last trip.
From creative workshops and science experiments to face painting, bubble shows and a miniature railway transformed into a spooky Halloween attraction, there is something for everyone.
Open from 10am to 4.30pm (last entry 3.30pm) on 24, 25, 28 and 31 October and 1 November, the centre will be decorated for the season with spooky displays, family-friendly Halloween games and autumnal surprises around every corner.
The festivities begin over the first weekend of half term with artist Jim Medway leading two creative workshops.
On 24 October, young artists can take part in Create a Comic, learning the basics of designing fun and simple characters before creating their own short comic strip.
Then on 25 October, Word Up! will give visitors the chance to experiment with lettering techniques, creating bold block letters, 3D designs and eye-catching effects.

The fun continues on 28 October, when Crewe Heritage Centre joins Crewe Town Council's Autumn Festival of Fun.
Admission will be free on this day, with families able to enjoy Creative Crewe's craft activities, meet Little Sprouts for a hedgehog-themed workshop and discover the wonders of science through interactive sessions with Mad Science including Detective Science and Spooky Slime!
The Centre's Halloween closing weekend promises even more excitement.
Jim Medway returns on 31 October with Monstrous Masks, where families can paint and personalise a Halloween mask to frighten their friends, while Cosmic Faerie brings a touch of magic with face painting, glitter tattoos and spectacular bubble shows in the morning.
The celebrations roll on into 1 November, when artist Debbie Goldsmith will help visitors create fun and spooky Halloween masks and bunting, alongside a full day of face painting, glitter tattoos and bubble fun from Cosmic Faerie.
No visit would be complete without a trip on the centre's ever popular miniature railway, which will once again become a spooky Miniature Ghost Train, carrying brave passengers through a seasonal railway adventure.
Crewe Heritage Centre Manager, Edmea Gori, told Nub News: "We've had our best season to date this year, and we are determined to end the 2026 season with a bang.
"Whether you're getting creative with our artists, taking part in science experiments, enjoying our Halloween entertainment or riding the spooky Miniature Train, there's something for the whole family.
"These are our final open days before winter, so we're inviting families to come and make some magical autumn memories with us before the season draws to a close on 1 November."
Standard admission charges apply on Saturdays and Sundays, while entry on Wednesday 28 October is free as part of the Autumn Festival of Fun.
