A fire in the open in Crewe last night (Monday) looks like it may have been started deliberately.

Firefighters were called to Henry Street at 7.39 pm yesterday and used water backpacks to put out the blaze.

A Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Firefighters used their water backpacks to extinguish a small rubbish fire in the open.

"Police were informed due to suspected deliberate ignition."
