WEIGHT-LOSS experts have rented a new base in Crewe to hold face-to-face sessions again.

Slimming World consultants have taken over a dedicated unit in the Brierley Business Centre as their groups have been able to meet again in the local community.

During lockdown sessions have been held online to support people following weight-loss regimes with over 450 people in Crewe signed up for help managing their weight each week.

Sarah Fisher runs groups on Tuesday mornings and afternoons at Coppenhall Club and on Wednesday mornings and afternoons at Brierley Business Centre.

She said: "When my members made healthy behaviour changes prior to lockdown, little did they know this would give them the tools to cope during this challenging time. Those changes have helped to support them to continue to successfully lose or maintain weight loss."

Nina Tomkinson became a consultant in January and runs a group on Wednesday afternoons at St Michael's Church Hall in Ford Lane.

She lost nearly four stone and went down three dress sizes after embarking on a diet programme in January 2020 after discovering she was suffering from high blood pressure and cholesterol.

She said: "I launched my group in the virtual world, so I've been so excited to run a real-life group and see everyone in person.

"We are Covid safe and there is absolutely no judgement about any weight gained during lockdown. There is just understanding, friendship, community spirit and lots of fun and laughter."
