RAIDERS brandished a large knife at a security guard during an attempted burglary on a Crewe building site.

The duo fled on foot empty-handed from Countryside Properties' housing site on West Street after being confronted by the guard.

Now Cheshire Police are appealing for witnesses and any video footage that may be available of the attempted burglary, which took place at around 5.30am on Tuesday, November 16.

A police spokesperson said: "As the pair searched the site they were spotted by a security guard who shouted at them.

"One of the men then pointed a large knife at the security guard before they both fled on foot."

Both men are described as white, in their early twenties, and of medium build at around 5ft 6 tall.

They were both wearing dark clothing.

PC Ben Shipley said: "This building site is located on West Street, one of the main roads into Crewe town centre, and as part of the investigation I'm keen to hear from anyone who witnessed anything suspicious or anyone with any CCTV footage which may aid our investigation.

"The same goes for anyone with any dashcam footage. I would urge anyone, with any information, no matter how small, to get in touch."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 or at www.cheshire.police.uk/tua, quoting IML 1133484.
