THE Rotary Club of Crewe is staging a socially-distanced Christmas tour for its Santa Float this year.

The club has revealed the dates and what stop-offs the popular float will be making around Crewe, Wistaston and Haslington between December 4 and 21.

In line with Covid-19 guidelines Rotary volunteers will not be knocking on doors with their collecting goblet and people will not be able to congregate in large groups around the float.

But it should still be a grand event and everyone can wave at Santa from their gardens and doors.

Rotary members have given the float a clean and spruce up and its sound and lighting system has been upgraded with some powerful batteries lent by Amberon.

A Rotary spokesperson said: "This year there will be a few changes to meet with the government's guidelines, but the Rotary are looking forward to spending 18 days with you around Crewe Wistaston and Haslington."

A sleigh tracker system, which can be found here will be in operation as normal for anyone wanting to follow the progress of the float.
