A Remembrance service is set to take place in Crewe town centre this weekend, with its gathering point changed due to the imminent demolition of its former library.

This year, the Remembrance Service will be held on Memorial Square, Crewe town centre, on the morning of Sunday 12 November.

The parade, which usually gathers under Civic Centre Car park, will instead meet at 10:30am at the newly renovated Market Sheds on Lyceum Square.

Crewe's Remembrance Services are organised by Crewe Town Council in partnership with the Royal British Legion (Crewe Town Council).

Remembrance Sunday is a day for the whole nation to remember and honour those who sacrificed their lives to secure and protect our freedom.

The event commemorates the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars.

It also commemorates later conflicts such as the Falklands War, the Gulf War, and other conflicts such as those in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Memorial Square has been decorated with poppy trees, a new community project organised between Creative Crewe and the Royal British Legion (Ryan Parker).

"The Parade will muster at 10:30am at the Market Sheds on Lyceum Square, leading to Memorial Square.

"Please use alternative public car parks to the Civic Centre/Library Car Park (free parking on Sundays)."
