Remarkable Crewe resident celebrates 105th birthday - and shares the secret to her old age

A remarkable Crewe resident has celebrated her 105th birthday this week.
And her advice for living as long as her is: "Keep breathing, eat plain food with vegetables and stay healthy."
Irene Schofield turned 105 on 30 September, and celebrated the day 'in style', surrounded by friends and family and making good on some birthday wishes.
For one, she had a visit from the Cheshire Fire & Rescue crew, a special birthday wish of hers.
She was also treated to an exclusive live acoustic guitar set from Paul Walker, her favourite guitarist.

Irene also enjoyed an afternoon snack of cheese and prosecco with tea cakes, and finished the day with her favourite dinner of lamb chops with mash, plenty of gravy, and lemon drizzle cake.
She even had a special visit from the Mayor of Crewe, Sally Graham - together they opened birthday cards, including one from Their Majesties The King and Queen.
Irene's birthday celebrations were held at the Alexandra Mill care home.
Stephanie Sheer, Home Manager at Alexandra Mill, said Irene 'loved' her birthday afternoon. "We feel honoured to have taken part in her very special day", she said.
A spokesperson for the care home added: "It was a truly joyful occasion and a reminder of the importance of celebrating life's remarkable milestones."
