Proposals have been submitted to refurbish a busy pub at Crewe Railway Station, including new seating, lighting and signage.

In July, applicant, Beth Lowe, of SSP UK Limited, submitted listed building consent for The Crewe Hero, Platform 6.

The applicant wants to install a new signage and lighting scheme to front of the pub, part of the grade II listed station.

A new signage and lighting scheme is planned to the front of The Crewe Hero, part of the grade II listed Crewe Railway Station (Ryan Parker).

An internal refurbishment is also planned, involving new fixed/booth seating bays, fixed screens and drinks shelves, a new section of tiled flooring, new lighting and decoration finishes.

Plans also include a new internal bric a brac, feature wall details and tiling a new bulkhead, formed between the pub and Uppercrust, which The Crewe Hero adjoins.

A design and access planning statement reads: "The site is an existing public house, the proposals are to refurbish the site, new floor and wall finishes, new fixed/booth seating bays and new signage and lighting scheme

"The refurbished site will enhance customer experience to the site.

"No structural works are proposed and no alterations to any of the listed building elements are proposed, all building features are to be retained.

"The public bar is accessed direct of platform 6 or via the Upper Crust unit, both units are owned by our client.

"The site is proposing a refurbishment to the existing unit, it will not affect the existing buildings features in any way.

"Due to the stations historic significance of this property, we have agreed with our client the existing building features should be retained in the existing state."

The last day for submitting comments is Wednesday 4 September, with a target decision date of Monday 23 September.
