Rail passengers were slightly delayed today (Thursday) after a cow was reported on land near the railway track on a service to Crewe.
One passenger told how the train he was travelling on was stationary for about 10 minutes after the guard alerted passengers a cow was near the track.
The incident happened at around 11am, between Sandbach and Goostrey, on the 10:06am Manchester Piccadilly to Crewe Northern Rail service.
A spokesperson for Northern told Nub News: "Earlier today, there were reports of a cow on land alongside the track approximately one mile south of Goostrey station.
"As a precaution, Network Rail issued a caution to drivers and attended the scene.
"The cow was already back in the field and at no point was the cow on the track. No services have been affected."
