Prolific Crewe shoplifter jailed for eight weeks after breaking CBO

A prolific Crewe shoplifter has been jailed for eight weeks, following two counts of theft from a shop and two counts of breach of his CBO (Criminal Behaviour Order).

Ian McIntyre, 46, was wanted by Cheshire Police in connection with breaching his two-year CBO to him in May 2024, and theft.

Around 12.10pm on Saturday 1 February, officers located McIntyre on Mount Pleasant, arresting him for the listed offices.

Ian McIntyre's offending was brought to an end when he was identified by staff entering the Co-op on Parkers Road (Nub News).

Despite the CBO, McIntyre continued to steal from multiple convenience stores. He was later charged with the offences.

McIntyre was remanded into custody and appeared at Chester Magistrates' Court on Monday 3 February.

Chester Magistrates' sentenced McIntyre to eight weeks in prison.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "A prolific offender has been charged after breaching his Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

"Ian James McIntyre, 46, of no fixed abode but of Crewe, was arrested on Mount Pleasant at around 12.10pm on Saturday 1 February.

"McIntyre was previously handed the two-year order at Chester Magistrates' Court on Thursday 2 May 2024, following multiple incidents of shoplifting across Crewe and the surrounding areas.

"However, despite being handed the order, his offending continued, stealing from convenience stores in Crewe.

Ian McIntyre, 46, has been charged with with two counts of theft from a shop and two counts of breach of his CBO (Criminal Behaviour Order) (Cheshire Police).

"Thankfully, McIntyre's offending was brought to an end when he was identified by staff entering the Co-Operative store on Parkers Road, that he had previously been banned from under the CBO.

"Upon being notified by shop staff, he was promptly arrested by officers and later charged with two counts of theft from shop and two counts of breach of criminal behaviour order.

"On Monday 3 February, Ian McIntyre was sentenced to eight weeks in prison."
